Small Temporal Baseline Subset Analysis (stbas): an Insar Technique for Multi-temporal Water Level Monitoring in Wetlands
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an InSAR technique called Small Temporal Baseline Subset (STBAS) for monitoring absolute water levels time series using radar interferograms acquired successively over wetlands. We tested the STBAS technique with two-year long Radarsat-1 data acquired over the Water Conservation Area 1 (WCA1) in the Everglades wetlands, south Florida (USA). The fine beam SAR data were acquired successively every 24 days during the years 2006-2007 except for two missing acquisitions. The InSAR derived water level data were calibrated using 13 stage stations located in the study area to generate 28 successive high spatial resolution maps (50 meter pixel resolution) of absolute water levels. We evaluated the quality of our study by using a root mean square error (RMSE) analysis. The average RMSE is 6.6 cm, which provides an estimation of the STBAS technique to monitor absolute water levels.

Advanced techniques of multi-temporal InSAR (MT-InSAR) represent a valuable tool in ground subsidence studies allowing remote investigation of the behavior of mass movements in long time intervals by using large datasets of SAR images covering the same area and acquired at different epochs. The settlement in Beijing is very serious, producing adverse environmental impacts. Excessive groundwater...
متن کاملA Method for Monitoring Hydrological Conditions beneath Herbaceous Wetlands Using Multi-temporal Alos Palsar Coherence Data
Reed marshes, the world’s most widespread type of wetland vegetation, are undergoing major changes as a result of climate changes and human activities. The presence or absence of water in reed marshes has a significant impact on the whole ecosystem and remains a key indicator to identify the effective area of a wetland and help estimate the degree of degeneration. Past studies have demonstrated...

Wetlands are dynamic and complex aquatic ecosystems that play an important role in the survival of many plant and animal species. This study modeled the spatio-temporal changes of the Arak Meighan wetland during 1985–2020 using the multi-temporal Landsat images. In doing so, the applicability of different satellite-derived indexes including NDVI, NDWI, MNDWI, AWEIsh , AWEInsh , and WRI was inve...

Owing to the development of spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) platforms, and in particular the increase in the availability of multi-source (multi-band and multi-resolution) data, it is now feasible to design a surface displacement monitoring application using multi-temporal SAR interferometry (MT-InSAR). Landslides have high socio-economic impacts in many countries because of potential...

The Terrain Observation with Progressive Scans (TOPS) acquisition mode of Sentinel-1A provides a wide coverage per acquisition and features a repeat cycle of 12 days, making this acquisition mode attractive for surface subsidence monitoring. A few studies have analyzed wide-coverage surface subsidence of Wuhan based on Sentinel-1A data. In this study, we investigated wide-area surface subsidenc...
